The filming for the upcoming project is set to commence next year, as revealed by the star in an interview with E! News, where she excitedly exclaimed “Next summer!” in response to a question about the start date.
Having recently premiered the seventh installment of the franchise just five months ago, Michelle disclosed to E! that they are currently working on gathering the cast together for the new project. She mentioned, “Yeah, we’re trying to rally the troops for this one.”

Michelle mentioned to E! News that the eighth film in the Fast and Furious series will begin shooting next summer, likely in New York City. This film will be the first one to be fully made since the tragic death of actor Paul Walker in a car accident. Michelle expressed that filming this movie will help in dealing with the loss of Paul.
“We need something to help us move forward after losing Paul,” she shared with the news outlet. “Given that this franchise has become a worldwide phenomenon, it’s crucial that we approach moving on with seriousness and consideration, not just for the American audience, but for fans all over the globe.”

“As a cast, I believe we require a purpose that resonates with heart, so hopefully we will uncover it, you know? And someone who is truly enthusiastic about directing it—finding a dedicated director is paramount,” she expressed.
The movie is scheduled to be released in April 2017, and Michelle shared with E! her wish for the filming to take place on the East Coast.
“We were considering New York,” she revealed about the potential location, “and I believe the studio was open to it, so let’s keep our fingers crossed! It would be my first film shot at home since Girl Fight!”
